publictransport

I’m reading some of Jim Kunstler’s rantings on the web and it’s just aggravating. Not the way he is saying things, which is very in your face “you’re not helping!”. I’m aggravated by the truths behind what he is saying and just the stupid things that I see everyday in how people treat where they live.

And it just brings up the thorn that is always in my paw:

I ride the metro in everyday. Yes, it is namely because I don’t like to drive and like to feel superior to my peers for being more environmentally-friendly. But I also do it because it IS a better solution than adding my car to the other single-driver autos out there every morning. I do understand that not everyone can take public transportation because it is not time-efficient to their location. However my boss lives on the same block as me. He lives one street away, true, but that adds, at most, 3 minutes to my 3 minute walk to the train, which means a 6 minute walk to the public transportation that is running to the downtown area anyway (every 10 minutes). What is the purpose there? How can one complain about the way things are going with society/ the city and not even try to make an effort? Are people really the stupid?

Argh. A little rant to get my blood going.
