Barbara,

I am very disappointed in you. Being Barb day and all, I would have expected a better result from the elections. Not only did Kerry lose, but the Republicraps gained seats in both the House and Senate, not to mention our new fascist boy-governor (John Ashcroft redux, anyone). I guess the majority of Americans are too self-centerd, stupid, and ignorant to look past their own tiny little selves.

"Moral Issues" was the sleeper issue this election?!? I guess George bush wins on morality what with his DUI, coccaine habit, hatred of gays, "c" student study habits, fiscal irresponsibility, hyper-nationalist rhetoric, trampling of civil rights, withdraw from global envirnmental and anti-proliferation treaties, killing of Iraqi civilians, divisive right-wing politics, and drunk-ass idiot daughters. At least we "know where he stands". That kills me. People are so fucking stupid.

How selfish are people that a $500 child tax credit and billions in corporate tax breaks somehow equates to support of the middle-class? How stupid are people to believe that we are safer today than we were prior to Bush's Iraq war - that if we kill or capture some Al Qaida operatives we can ignore the anti-American militarization of an entire generation of Iraqi youth. They don't have to win the war, they just have to not lose, and they are completing that task admirably. (Shades of Vietnam?)

I am sincerely disappointed in Americans. I am saddened by the number of people that voted for a country dedicated not to equality for all but for increased bigotry, fear, economic disparity, and selfishness.

At least I can take comfort in the fact that my union to Rachel isn't threatened by those gays - wouldn't want to live in a state where committed gay couples can be recognized legally, visit each other in the hospital, or get health insurance. I would much rather live in a state where the bigots who control the government can prevent such travesties.
