weekend of eating cake in bed
2004-11-15 at 3:05 p.m.

Okay so I guess I was ranting a bit on that last entry. I’m still peeved, but am holding it back much better now.

So this past weekend wasn’t really that eventful. A nice thing that happened was that Schilly Boo came through town and Nuke and I got to go over to his parent’s house to play drinking games and catch up on current events. The games were fun and I pretty much enjoyed myself and the others around me. However Nuke had to go home around 10 to study and since I was enjoying myself we decided I would stay and he would come back and get me in the morning. Well after he left we played flip-cup.

For those of you unaware with what flip-cup is….well it is, quite simply, the devil’s game. There are two teams on opposing sides of the table and each member has a cup with a shot of beer in it. The goal is to, one at a time, drink your beer and then set your cup on the edge of the table and flip it up using one finger so that it flips and lands open side down. Once the first person gets their cup flipped the next person on the team drinks their beer and attempts to flip their cup.

Well the excitement really gets to you and you only realize that you’ve been taking shots of beer (s-plural due to constant refilling of the cup) when you are sitting on the front porch arguing politics with a moron and scaring your friend’s little sister who used to think you were sweet before you attempted to castrate said idiot with a camel light.

So at around 1am I ended up calling Nuke and incoherently asking him to come and get me because I was pretty sure that I had thrown up and I wasn’t sure where I was going to be able to pass out since two people were already down for the count and everyone else was still going strong and probably wouldn’t smile upon me passing out in the living room.

I know this because I did just that when waiting for Nuke to come and get me. I bundled myself all up in scarf, gloves, hat, coat, etc and laid down on the floor and started sawing a log. Apparently when Nuke came I sat up and when Schilly said I could go I argued that I had to wait for Nuke….who was standing right in front of me… whoops.

So, needless to say, I slept in on Saturday. That afternoon I went with Danger and the puppies to a dog park and saw some of the most obese dogs known to man. Seriously, they should have made this park bigger so that these dogs would have to work off some of those kibble and bits.

We took Danger’s Mom’s new puppy to the dog park with us; which was an experience. She seems to think that Lola is the most violent dog because first she was scared that Lola would convince her Maggie to become an aggressive dog. (Which is interesting because were we to view the tape we would see Lola trying to ignore Maggie while Maggie tried to eat Lola’s face. Lola finally growled at Maggie after the 5th attempt)

Then when we were leaving (in separate cars because she didn’t want “them in the same car together” because god forbid Lola give Maggie a cigarette and tell her where babies come from) she looked at Lola and then me and asks if Lola has ever been to a dog park and if she’s well-behaved at them.

ARGH! I do not deal well with people criticizing my dog and especially not when their dog just got done attacking mine.

Okay, breathe through it.

So Saturday night was incredibly lazy. I read in bed for awhile and then convinced Nuke that he should read in bed as well. Then we had cake and wine in bed. Then I read a little bit more before drifting off to sleep at 8:30. Just early enough for Nuke to make fun of me.

Sunday morning we woke up rather early and took Lola on a good walk. When we got back Nuke made breakfast potatoes and I made veggie sausages. Quite tasty. After breakfast I read for a bit while he studied. Then Nuke went in to school to study some more and I read some more around the house. Then I started cleaning like crazy because I remembered that AMF was flying in and that should she decide to walk up the 3 flights of stairs she might be interested in how clean a Den of Sin really is.

So just near the end of cleaning Schilly Boo showed up for a haircut. So I accommodated him and then he bought me a chocolate malt in payment.

So after squandering a few hours not being productive I went to the store to get some flowers and food should we not go out to eat with AMF when she came in. So then I was cramped for time and had to rush to the airport to pick her up. Luckily I was there in time and even had time to fill up her car with gas.

So we came back to the apartment (stairs were too much) and we waited at the bottom for Nuke to come down and join us for dinner at the Vietnamese restaurant around the corner.

So we had a lovely dinner and some nice white wine and just chatted with AMF about her most recent trip to Egypt. It sounded interesting.

Oh though when I first got her at the airport she started right-away on “what are you guys going to live on for 7 years?” (re: Nuke being in med school and me being in grad school) “So you’re not getting married in a Catholic Church?”

O it was a shock to have it come so quickly. But she behaved around Nuke and didn’t say anything more about us being sinners and what-not. Which I was glad, because, seriously you can only take so much.

And now I’m at work. I should be working and I actually have something I should be working on. That in itself is exciting because I have been so bored at work lately and have been making up things to do. And of course now that I have something to work on I am goofing off updating my diary. But oh well, it needed it.

So I think I’m going to call Nuke really quick and thank him again for coming back on Friday to pick my drunk ass up.

And to tell him that I love him
